Barbara Colloquium 2026

About the Colloquium

Meeting Point for Foundry Research

Since 1975, the Aalen Barbara Colloquium has brought together experts from foundry research and industry. Named after Saint Barbara, the patron saint of foundry workers, it is a fixed date for everyone working in foundry technology and die casting.

Once again this year, we are part of the traditional Barbara Colloquium in Aalen, a special Advent season gathering for foundry technology experts. A wide range of industry presentations offers insights into current developments, challenges and technical innovations in the sector. Our colleague Florian Wirth will attend the colloquium and is looking forward to inspiring talks and meeting you in person.

The Succession

Under the title “The Succession”, the 2026 colloquium centers on the generational change in research and teaching: the succession of Prof. Dr. Lothar Kallien, who has shaped foundry research in Aalen for many years. Prof. Wolfram Volk of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) will present the Southern Foundry Competence Network (Gießereikompetenznetzwerk Süd). Presentations from Bocar, BMW, Handtmann and Föhl combine scientific expertise with current questions from industrial practice.
